Own It.

Letting go is such a challenge in itself, but getting over it and healing from it could be just as challenging, if not harder.  People always say to keep yourself occupied to take your mind off the situation, but I personally think it’s so much more effective to just let it out as it comes.  Be down; be pathetic; be dismal; be angry; you have every right to.  You’re supposed to.  But through it all, just remember not to lose the inability to connect to the world.  The people in your life are your crutches. Let them be there - heck, it’s free haha.

If you continue fighting to avoid the reality and tell yourself “time will heal it,” let me tell you now - it will only make it hurt longer.  Time will always heal, but might as well use your time efficiently.  Confronting it and dealing with it will only give you more time to start off that clean slate of yours.  So start taking those steps forward, but maybe take those bigger harder steps instead of the small easy steps.

To anyone feeling that the world isn’t on your side at the moment, I say to you “it gets better.”

After all, you never know who could walk into your life next.  They could be the one or it could be something else, but it is for sure the next chapter in your life.  Just make sure to look fly when it happens ;)

Here’s a toast to new inspirations and new beginnings.  Happiness should always be the option.

Piece of Cake

"If you put your happiness in temporary things - your happiness will be temporary."  Within the 25 years of my life, which most of you can probably agree, we realize that there are some things in life that last a long time and then there are things like a piece of cake.  Having a slice or two will make you pretty dang happy.  Perhaps really happy.  But if you think about it, in the form of happiness, like the cake, will be a very short lived thing. This quote speaks so much truth to me, because it warns us against depending on the fleeting things of life for our happiness.  Whether that's a vacation in the Bahamas, a night out drinking, lunch with a friend, a day spent at the beach... the event doesn't last.  The more I reminisce, I see this as something that is applied to not only every part of my life, but for all of ours.  We probably already have fairly lasting things which help us remember that we are happy. Five Things 2018 Taught Me:

1.  Excuses aren't going to get you anywhere .   Stop talking yourself out of the opportunities just because you don't "feel" like you're ready yet.  It's time.  You're ready now. 2.   You can't help everyone .  No matter how kind you are, someone will always find a reason to dislike you - it isn't always about you.  Sometimes people don't know how to deal with or interact with kindness because they've never felt that before so they project.  This is a battle they have to fight themselves. 3.   Quality vs. quantity .   It's about those who push you beyond your limits.  The ones who notice that slight off -tone in your voice when something is wrong, because they just know.  The ones who bring you coffee or food not because you asked, but simply because they thought of you.  Those who send that "text me when you get home so I know you got home safely" text.  The ones who don't get upset with you for responding 3 hours l

Growth.

When you get older, life seems to make a lot more sense more than ever.  The things that you want, the people you want to be around, the color that you love, or why he/ she wasn't meant for you —  basically almost everything that you worried about, smiled and laughed or even cried about before.  The things that made you uncomfortable happened to be the things that you enjoyed the most, and of course the things that you said you would and wouldn't do, turned out to be the opposite.   It's okay.  You're growing up.  You are growing beautifully despite and in spite of.   As you get older, the puzzle becomes clearer.  You find out what moves you, what encourages you, what you deeply crave from life — and you chase that.  You come to realize that you have that fire inside of you where you must never let convenience, comfort, or easiness of standing put it out.  You find acceptance within yourself while leaving those who don't accept you, because you come to real
